Writing a job posting for the Internet is different than writing a job posting for a newspaper. Since you are charged by the line or column width for newspaper ads, ads are very plain and full of abbreviations therefore job seekers can not get detailed information about your company or the position. Unlike newspaper advertising, an online job posting allows you to showcase your company and provide a full description of the position. Even though some career sites do have length restrictions, there is still sufficient space to outline enough information for the candidate to fully understand the requirements and expectations of the candidate for the available position.
Here are some tips to effectively write an Internet job posting ad:
1. Job Title
The job title is one of the most important components of your job posting. The title is the first thing that job seekers see and determines whether or not they will click through to view your job posting. An effective job title should be targeted to the main responsibility of the job, without being too limited to allow for maximum search results to attract a higher response rate.
2. Company
Regardless of whether or not your company is well-known, you will want to provide insight into your organization to allow the candidate to understand your overall environment and culture. Components to consider are as follows:
This information should be both informative and appealing for job seekers.
3. Job Description
The Job Description is a very crucial component because job seekers want to know exactly what they will do doing on the job. Make sure to include the following information:
The goal is to be as descriptive as possible so that job seekers can visualize what they will be doing on a day to day basis.
4. Required Skills and/or Qualifications
Outline the skills that are necessary for the position. Make sure to distinguish between the required skills and the “nice to have skills” for the job. Some items that should be addressed are if there is a requirement for the minimum number of years of experience, education level, and any certificates needed. You should also list any soft skills that are needed for the position. Soft skills can include communication skills, willingness to travel, ability to work in a team environment, organizational skills, etc. To try and minimize that number of applicants you receive, you can consider stating whether or not you are accepting resumes for candidates that are outside the U.S.
5. Keywords
Always include keywords that are found in your job posting otherwise job seekers will not be able to locate your job posting. It will be helpful to list common words that job seeks might use when searching for jobs. Not only do keywords determine which candidate searches your job posting will appear in, but they are also the basis of search alerts and agents, which help you reach both active and passive candidates. Be sure to use words that ideal candidates for your position would use to search for it. Include alternate job titles, responsibilities and skills needed for the position.
6. Proofread Your Posting
After you are finished writing your job posting, review it and make sure that your spelling and punctuation are correct. If there are any grammar mistakes, this will not make a good impression on the job seeker. In addition, do not use ALL CAPS when writing your posting. You want yourself and your company to be viewed as very professional.
Once your job posting has been proofed, it is ready to be posted on the Internet. Just remember the more detailed and specific your job posting is, the better fit candidates are more likely to respond. This will save you time and money during your recruiting process.
Effective Business Writing aims to help writers in three ways:
At the present rate of world-wide population growth rate and the growing industrialization of China and the third world, we are definitely running into problems with the environment. But what if there were less people around to consume and more forest to handle the CO² emissions?
Be fruitful and multiply; and fill the earth (Gen 1:28) God commands Adam and Eve, which they made a good start of; but then something went terribly wrong. The world today is not in good stewardship, as God wanted from us. Our false God – Consumption – is driving us in a wholly different direction.
For a long time perspective on CO² reduction to work, we either need to reverse industrialization (not going to happen) or reduce consumption (also not going to happen) or take the variable out of the equation totally: People!
Have you ever thought about that, even for just one second? I’m not proclaiming genocide here – God forbid – no; I only want to tease a creative idea I think is worth having a closer look at.
Consumption is the root cause of CO² emissions and people is the root cause of consumption. It’s that simple. So how do we significantly reduce the world population?
Genocide is not an option, so we need to entice people to leave the planet, i.e. invest is space exploitation! Yes, exploitation. If people had an attractive alternative, they will always go there. So we have to create a new Klondike, a new gold rush where people will go to make their dreams come true. Today, that is over the border from Zimbabwe to South Africa, or from Africa to Europe, etc. Tomorrow – in a few years – that can be Space instead. Thus it has to be space exploitation and not just exploration; otherwise the masses won’t be enticed to go there. If there’s not a buck to make, then no one’s interested!
How do we make this happen? If the world’s governments are serious about CO² reduction and all of them put trading of emission certificates in place, we would have a source for financing the initial endeavors’ into space. This could be a source of funding for NASA and other national space programs but also for ESA and other international agencies, seeking to develop the technologies needed to make space travel and exploitation possible. Furthermore, there should be government funding and tax reductions made effective for any commercial developments that seems viable to this end.
But will not space travel be a burden to the environment? Yes, initially and today, this is true. We do not need to look far ahead though, to see new technologies made available to seriously reduce any impact on CO² emissions to this end. In Science Fiction, the possibilities of Plasma Engines and Space Elevators have been debated for years. In material research, we already have promising technologies today, which on a massive scale could support this very cause.
So where will people go? A few scenarios: Terra forming of Mars, commercial exploitation of the Moon and the Asteroids and even the Leisure Industry would create massive opportunities for people to get involved in. If I could go on hols’ to the Moon in 25 years, I’d save a while for the ticket (but only if Paris Hilton isn’t!). The pioneers of modern Space travel, like Sir Richard Branson shows the way. Given a massive support from a financial perspective and the opportunity to “play it for keeps” when it comes to the fruits of space exploitation, I think we should seriously think about this long-term perspective for saving out precious planet.

Was unterscheidet GTD von anderen Methoden?
Was machen wir?

This Blog is a comment to Wendy Davis excellent post on Just An Online Minute… Study: Pre-iPhone, Mobile Video Still Has Far To Go
The only way for Mobile Video to develop into a profitable business, is to make consumption free (no charges to data volumes consumed or fees for watching). To get there, better advertising systems has to be developed and location based services thrown in.
I think consumers might want to watch videos mobile if there's an immediate connection to where they are and what they are doing. These are, essentially, the need for a mobile in the first place (I want to be free to take calls anywhere).
The problem has not been solved yet though. Operators have to rethink their game plan for this to happen and this is where Apple and Steve Jobs come in. His is the power to change the current paradigm, as successfully proven at least twice.
The technical challenge is still there though. Google & Co can only deduce what you’re intentions are from analyzing your clickstream. This is an outside-in approach. Imagine you had a system built on a distributed approach instead, analyzing your user behavior inside-out. This data would only belong to you, but also be the reason for reacting to requests from the outside (“Pizza Parlor around the corner”, want to see ad?) to be picked up if it is discernible that the user is actually at that moment looking for a place to eat (“Yes, send ad through”).
eBlizz offers such an approach. The eBlizz SmartClient is an application with a small footprint your run on your device. As devices get ever faster, packed with ever more memory and higher bandwidth connectivity, it is not far away in the future that we will see such developments happen. eBlizz helps the user find his way through the Net by adding a degree of semantic analysis of your clickstream and communication you do over the SmartClient. Thus, the system can serve up better ads in a better context for you, which incidentally, could be location based.
The aim of eBlizz is “to connect anything on the Net that is not connected but belongs together”. You can browse anything on the Net and add it "scrap book style" to a “view” you build yourself. The advantage is that you don't need to download anything. Instead, the client keeps track of where it is and displays the content object on your view. Add to this any content your have locally, comment on it and share it with friends, using P2P or web-share, this approach has a strong workflow enhancing ability that might lead you to scrapping your Email, Browser and IM apps.
Sounds like a deal for iPhone?
